Time is passing quickly and the day is almost here! Organizers will be having a Snowball Meeting on Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Dorset Recreation Centre. Come and see how you can join the fun and we promise you - it will be fun! Helpers are needed at the souvenir / button sale table, at the Kiddy Snowmobile Rides and at the FD Pancake Breakfast and Fast Food Booth.
Thank you to all who helped make Snowball 2009 such a resounding success - beautiful weather! Happy people! Tons of Winter Fun! See you at the Snowball Thank You & Wrap Up Party on Thursday April 16 at 6pm. Have dinner, social time with other Snowball volunteers and chat about next year's Snowball.
Congratulations Snowball! On March 29, 2008 at the Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce gala, Haliburton County Warden Eleanor Harrison presented Jim Jones, chair of the Dorset Snowball Committee with her Warden's choice "Award of the Year for 2007". "The entire village of Dorset deserves the accolades" she said. Everyone in Dorset rallies behind the event which has something to offer for people of all ages, indoors and out.
The festivities begin Friday evening with a family skating party. New this year are a DJ (the fantastic KJ Chris) and light show with music, hot dogs and hot chocolate. The fun continues with Saturday's events including a pancake breakfast, a parade, horse drawn wagon rides, Mini-Snowmobile rides, displays and demonstrations, entertainment, food, music and more. Be sure to buy your $3 Snowball Button for entry to the carnival area at one of the many local merchants selling them.
Access to Main Street is via Hwy 117 and Harvey Avenue. The northern entrance from Hwy 35 to Main Street will be closed. Limited parking is available at The Fiery Grill or Robinson's General Store.
