Family Skating Party with Music - Hot Dogs and Hot Chocolate at the Dorset Rink 6 to 8 pm, provided by the Dorset Recreation Centre Committee. Joe Alfano will be providing a selection of swishy music to skate by!

Adult Broomball Tournament
15 minute games beginning at 8pm. Bring your team! Registration in advance is required! Space is limited! Call 766-9968 to register. $10 for teams who register in advance - $20 for teams who register on the day. 50% of fees to the winning team, 25% to the second place team and 25% to Snowball. (Teams of 6-1 girl minimum) HELMETS REQUIRED.

Dorset Volunteer Fire Fighter's All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast
Adult - $6 plus a Snowball Button, Children 6-12 - $4 plus a button, Children under 6 are free. 8:30am to 11 am.

Library Open 10am to 3pm - Crafts for Kids

Haliburton Highlands Cycling Coalition will have an information booth set up in the library - stop in for a visit.

11 to 3 - Jungle Jack Extreme Balloons - downstairs in the Rec Centre

12 & 2 - Dan Cole entertains with his unique blend of comedy and juggling, in the Rec Centre

1pm - Wye Marsh Birds of Prey Show - upstairs in the Rec Centre - learn all about birds from our area and see an amazing bird of prey hunt in our gym - keep your fur hats covered!

Snowball Cafe - Tea, Coffee & Sweets & Bake Sale provided by Knox United's UCW and St. Mary Magdalene's Anglican Church, downstairs in the Rec Centre. Have a seat, take a rest and warm up! 12 to 3pm.
Paul Wilson will be entertaining in the Snowball Cafe with his guitar and voice.
Kid's Face Painting - upstairs in the Rec Centre from 12 to 3pm. Provided by the Simcoe / Muskoka YMCA.
Dorset Heritage Museum - 50/50 Draw, calendars, post cards and cookbooks on sale upstairs in the Rec Centre from 11am to 3pm.
Silent Auction - upstairs in the Rec Centre from 11am to 3pm. A selection of wonderful items to bid on - auction closes at 3pm. Proceeds towards next year's Snowball.
Stonecarving Workshop with Elise of Stone Tree Studio downstairs in Rec Centre 12 - 3pm. Try your hand at stonecarving. An assortment of files, polishing papers and stone (alabaster and soapstone) will be available to try. Elise will also be displaying and selling her sculptures.
Minnow Races downstairs in Rec Centre 12 - 3pm. Provided by The Township of Algonquin Highlands Council.
18th Century Fur Traders Display downstairs in the Rec Centre, presented by Mike Buss from 12 - 3pm.
Chili Lunch with a dinner roll to eat in or take home, provided by the Dorset Lifeliners. Individual serving $5. (Vegetarian chili will be available.) Available downstairs in Rec Centre 11am - 3pm.
Dorset Lions Club will be selling draw tickets upstairs in the Rec Centre with proceeds to community betterment.
Snowball Souvenirs such as sweatshirts, coffee mugs, hats and headbands, on sale in the Rec Centre. Don't forget to fill out your ballot for the free draw. (draw held at next Snowball Committee Meeting) .

Saturday February 16, 2008 - Outside Stuff
Free Skate by the rink to 12pm.
"Fast Food" hot, fast and delicious, at the fire hall.
Bruce Kruger, Member of the Ontario Guild of Town Criers will host the official opening and will be announcing Snowball events throughout the day.
Oxen Team Demonstration provided by Dorset Heritage Museum, on Main Street, 12pm to 3pm.
Dorset Heritage Museum will be open from 10am to 4pm today.
Remax Balloon Ride. Enjoy a tethered balloon ride provided by Bill and June Johnson, Remax Muskoka, Dorset. Weather permitting. Behind the LCBO.
Trail Groomer on display by the diamond. Provided by Tall Pines Snowmobile Club.
Maple Syrup Display by the diamond, provided by the Emes Family. Free maple taffy will be available.

Saturday February 16, 2008 - More "Outside" Things to Do - Timed Events
11 am Snowball Parade
All local businesses - step up to the challenge! Prizes for best float! No float is too big or too small - get creative and join the fun! Be at Dorset Garage at 10:45am to join in. Kid's, pick up a costume at the Rec Centre and be a part of the celebration!
11:30 am Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting in front of the Rec Centre with our Town Crier and local politicians.
11:30 & 1:15 Wildlife Caller 2 shows - given by Stephen Morrin (outdoorsman, poet & wildlife caller) - a very entertaining demo showcasing wildlife calls from geese to woodpeckers & a few surprises in between - don't miss it! By the Firehall.
12 - 3 pm Mini Snowmobile Rides in the ball diamond, Organizers: Andy McEachern & Bill Johnson.
12 - 4 pm Horse Drawn Wagon Rides down Main St., sponsored by Haliburton North Construction Ltd. & Algonquin Projects Limited.
12:30 & 2 Junkyard Symphony: Junkyard Jam - a 45 minute show. Jonny and friends jam with the audience along to the beat of the junk. The only language spoken is the language of rhythm. Volunteers get to drum on buckets, dance the macarena, do the limbo and have a ball!
12 - 1 pm Kid's Broomball Game for kids at the rink. Teams of 6. Bring a team or just come & join a team! Helmets required. Organizer: Joe Alfano
1 - 2 pm Snow Snake Games provided by the Macdonald Family. Try your luck at this ancient activity traditional to our area. No experience required! At the ball diamond. Prize for everyone who tries it!
1 to 2:30pm Drumming & Rhythm Circle with Barry (Bazza) Hayward, in the rink shack, all ages, family fun! Sponsored by the Algonquin Community Development Cooperative.
12:30 pm Snowshow Race for ages 8 to 11 provided by Stephen & Laura Smith, behind the Recreation Centre. Great Prizes!
1 pm Snowshoe Race for ages 12-18 provided by Stephen & Laura Smith, behind the Recreation Centre. Fabulous Prizes!
1:30 pm Snowshoe Race for ages 18 & up provided by Stephen & Laura Smith, behind the Recreation Centre. Spectacular Prizes!
12 - 3 pm Chainsaw Carving Demonstration in front of the Rec Centre. The carved piece will be auctioned off at the end of the day in the silent auction - be sure to get your bid in for the great carving!
2:30 pm Hockey Shoot Out at the rink. Helmets required.
3 pm Kids vs Adults Shinny Game at the rink, everyone welcome, helmets required.
8 pm Hockey Night in Dorset
Come out and cheer for your favorite team! Helmets required.
